Police in Manchester have arrested a man they believe was responsible for a brutal assault that took place during the early morning hours of New year’s Day.
The victim is a female whose name is not being released by authorities. The alleged attacker is named Billy Joe Nelson of Tullahoma.
Police say the victim did not know her attacker who approached her while she was resting in her car at a gas station next to an establishment hosting a New Year party.
Authorities say that Nelson allegedly took the victim and her vehicle – driving it to Dossett apartments in Tullahoma where he apparently assaulted her and left her there.
The victim then called police.
Nelson was in a Coffee County court Thursday for an arraignment hearing
